Author And Book Marketing Tips

February 7th, 2010 Gloria Jennings No comments

Writers want their work to be read by many; it will mean that they can keep on writing for a living and not as a side-line. Starting out is always hard for any first-time writer. You do not know what to do or how best to market your work. You will probably not be able to afford a high-quality, big city P. R. Firm to do your marketing for you. You may not even have an agent. So how do you get your work known?

Many authors have had the smart idea of writing books about how to promote their books. They are serving their own needs by catering to others just like them. Some books are better than others and some may be just scams. However, you should look at what these authors are doing to get their books bought in the first place. They use new technology which can be free. Use the internet. Create fan sites. Try to link yourself up with as many search engines and online retailers as you can.

You may actually be in a better situation financially if you live in a small town instead of a big city. Someone from a small town getting a book published is big news in that area. Residents will rush out to see what their neighbor was able to create. Local media and papers will focus stories on you, which is always excellent and free advertising. In a big city, no one would care. You must use every single chance you get in order to get your name out there.

You want to give just enough information about the book to make people interested. Do not talk too much about it or give anything away. Be a professional and think about the business of you. Every story or interview is just like a job interview. Do not say anything off-color or make stupid jokes. You do not want to risk alienating a single person. Make sure you are well spoken but do not try to sound ‘too smart’ and risk sounding like an idiot when no one has any clue about what you are talking about. Not everyone knows critical theory or the Laconian or Derrida point of view. Keep it simple and entertaining.

Dress well, too. If you do not dress professionally for public appearances, what makes anyone think that you can write professionally? Play up your contacts, you affiliation with local schools or business or sports teams. Make people proud that you came from their area. Keep in mind that people know your parents or remember you from high school. They want to see what you have done with your life.

Promote yourself as much as you can without becoming irritating. Do television commercials and put up posters. Making deals with local businesses can be a great business move. You just want your book to get out there, even if you are not making much money on it yet. It takes a while for books to pass from hand to hand and for viral advertising to happen.

How to Attract Buyers to any Website.

October 9th, 2009 Owen Jones No comments

If you are an Internet marketer, then you will be promoting a website, whether you own that website or whether it is a generic site promoting an affiliate link is irrelevant.

Whether you own the site or not, the problem remains the same – how do you get enough interested visitors to your site, so that, if they like your product and can afford it, they will have a chance to buy it, before they get bored and move on.

This is the largest common problem that every single Internet marketer has, and it is called attracting targeted traffic, getting relevant visitors or something similar. All the phrases come to the same thing ultimately. If no one sees your product they cannot buy it or if your visitors are mainly young people interested in tennis, it is no good trying to sell them bird cages.

So, obviously you need as many visitors to your website, who are interested in your product, as you can handle. This means that you need to be highly ranked in the search engines so that people can find your site. The biggest and most often-used search engine is Google. So, how do you get your site ranked highly in Google?

There are thousands of books on this subject, but without exception, the serious ones come to the same conclusion, unless they were written by self-interested safe-list or traffic exchange owners. And that conclusion is that you need links to your site.

Very few people honestly know how Google ranks sites, but it is generally agreed that the more sites linking to a site the better. This has lead some webmasters to exchange links with each other. This is an easy way to get links and Google can recognize reciprocal links. The best links are one-way links, because it shows that someone values your site enough to want to be associated with it. These are called back links.

Therefore, the real problem is how to get enough back links to your site to persuade Google (and the others) that you run an important enough site to rank it highly for your chosen keywords, which should be relevant to the content of your site. How do you do that?

Well, there are many strategies such as traffic exchanges, safelists, FFAs, forums and writing articles. To be blunt, the first three are a complete waste of time. I own a safelist and have wasted man-hours on traffic exchanges, all for nought. Posting to forums can be worthwhile, but ONLY if the link on your post is a follow link. If it is not, it doesnt count and most are no follow links. This means you will have to research the forums to find out where it is worth while you posting to (more on this later). That leaves writing articles as the ONLY sure-fire way to get solid back-links to your site based on keywords that are relevant to your site.

So, you write an article on a subject relevant to your site stuffed (but not over-stuffed) with relevant keywords and then what? Thats easy! You search Google for article directories and blogs, sign up to a couple of dozen and post your article to them.

And that is how you get the best links to become highly ranked, so that people can find you, so that they have a chance to buy what you are selling. The only catch is that Google will expect to see new links appearing on a regular basis, which means writing and posting time after time after time after time ad infinitum. Or does it?

Unfortunately, yes, it does! But the process can be automated and automation is the key to online success. Set up a proven, successful process and let it run ” day and night: all day and all night! I use a system that helps me turn an article into thousands of variations and posts them to thousands of search engines, directories, lists and websites, creating literally thousands of back-links!

These variations are not spun! (The industry standard way of creating variations is to use spinning software to substitute synonyms eg quickly for fast in a random way. This works to a certain degree but can produce gibberish too). The system I use does not employ this method, but still produces thousands or variants. Then it sends them to article directories and blogs. Thousands of them. In fact today, there are over 11,000 sites on their list and the list is kept fresh on a monthly basis. Most similar lists are not well maintained as it is very time-consuming and so contain many dead links.

This system takes your article, creates thousands of variations and then posts them to thousands of sites. All with your sites link in the by-line, which can also be varied. But not only that! It only posts your article to lists and categories that deal with sites like yours (based on your chosen keywords) and posts according to a schedule chosen by you: ie 10, 20, 50, 100, 1,000 posts a day, starting on any future date you choose! So, for example, you could write three articles and have the first one go out starting the next day at 150 a day; the second one starting after seven days at 150 sites a day; and the third starting after two weeks at a rate of 75 sites a day.

That would give your site at least 3,000 links in a month or 100 a day ” all for 2-3 hours work! If you wrote one article a day (an hours work) and it got posted to only 1,000 relevant sites, you would have 30,000 relevant links in a month. And that does not include the bloggers, ezine publishers and webmasters who paste your article into their publication with your link. You could easily end up with 40-50k links. But it doesnt even stop there, because the article will be live for years and years, quietly beavering away at getting you noticed by the search engines and the people searching them. How many sales could that get you?

If you would like to see an example of this systems output, you are reading one ” this article and if you would like to find out how you can do the same, just follow the link in my by-line attached to it.

Starting an Internet Marketing Business

October 7th, 2009 Owen Jones No comments

New business opportunities have appeared in newly-invented sectors of activity with the development of the electronic market. How do people make money on the Internet? Well, it does not matter whether we are talking about businesses selling products or services, the basics of whether the Internet business is working or not is best measured by sales.

The growth of competition has forced small and large companies alike to adopt all manner of strategies to become visible and profitable online but because the ways of achieving these goals are highly complex, a new type of business has appeared: the Internet marketing business. Who are these people and how can they assist with business promotion? First of all, most people lack marketing knowledge and understand very little of the methods used to promote, create a campaign and support a product or service at the top of a search engine.

Internet marketing businesses are most often made up of a team of people who have had proper professional marketing education and who have made a profession out of studying the motion of the Internet as a reflection of real-life market transactions. The range of services offered by such companies is vast and comprehensive. Most of them can help you with starting a business from scratch and building everything you require for online representation, starting with the design of the web page. What the most service companies need from an Internet marketing business is the creation of marketing campaigns and their monitoring over a prolonged length of time.

The goal of such campaigns is the increase of sales and overall company profitability. However, there are different types of strategies that Internet marketing businesses can implement, depending on the requirements of the client. Therefore, you can concentrate on search engine marketing, keyword marketing, web site marketing strategies, sales leads, sales lead management et cetera.

The advertising campaign can get even more specific too, so there can be much more selective targeting. So, some companies want to convert visitors into leads, others need to improve their search engine ranking and small businesses very often want local or regional exposure etc..

And last but not least, Internet marketing businesses are often a very good source of tips for the more knowledgeable web developers, who manage the optimization of their own sites themselves but still require advice on ways and means, tools and marketing techniques.

A good example is the choice of the software necessary to optimize a web site and monitor it constantly, improving the activity and increasing the company’s profitability. What is the criteria for recognizing a valuable piece of software? Well, it is not easy, but excellent software is usually fairly expensive, but it need not be overly so. It should automate quite a lot of the processes required and it has to produce readily understandable reports that you can act on.

Generating Massive Traffic Through Article Marketing

September 25th, 2009 Porfirio G Krasternak No comments

Writing and submitting articles to article banks has been proven to be one of the most effective of all traffic generating techniques. You may not actually generate any real traffic for your website in the next few days by learning to write and submit articles but this technique will serve you very well and it is worth the effort to learn how to do it and use it to your fullest advantage. You may think that you have no writing ability at all but you are probably wrong. You might not be ready to write the Great American Novel but you can write articles about the topic of your website and about the products that you are selling. You just need to know the rules for making them effective. The first and most important few words of your article are in the title or the headline. The title MUST contain the key words that relate to the topic of your website and to the products that you sell. This is the first thing that other website owners or E-zine publishers will look at when they are deciding whether to reproduce your article on their websites or in the publications because they know that the key words are what search engines use to determine the results of searches.

* Note: The way people find products or information on the internet is by the use of search engines. These people use key words to find what they want by entering them into the search box and clicking “Search”. One such search may be for “car parts” or “car tires”. What is returned by the search engine is based on whatever key words the searcher used.

Another thing of importance regarding the headline or title of the article is that it MUST draw attention. Using something simple like Car Parts won’t do. Your title MUST be interesting enough to grab the reader’s attention and keep him reading. “Car Parts for Your Mercedes”…well, that isn’t really great either. How about, “Car Parts for your SL-600″ or “Car Parts For Your SL That The Women Can’t Resist”? These last two headlines should encourage someone looking for parts their Mercedes to continue reading the article.

The second most important few words in your article are in the first line of the first paragraph. Internet surfers have a notoriously short attention span and rarely actually read anything word for word unless it is information that they believe will serve their needs, solve a problem or make life better in general for them. So…the title…and the first line are the bait and the hook that you use to entice a reader to actually read the article. The first line needs to contain the key words, as well, and it also need to be attention getting. The fish were begging for more of this fish bait after my first cast! If you were a fisherman, you would keep reading.

Another thing about writing articles that you plan to submit to article banks is that they need to be short. Very short! They should be a maximum of 400 words and closer to 300 would be better. Its easy to get carried away and suddenly have an article that is 1000 words or more when you are discussing a subject that you know a lot about and are interested in. If you start writing and forget to stop, break long wordy articles down and make three or four articles out of the one long one.

Keep in mind that short attention span we discussed earlier and use short sentences and paragraphs. And don’t use big words or run-on sentences. Make your article pleasing to the eye and it will be read.

Go easy on the exclamation points, as well. One exclamation point indicates importance or excitement… a half a dozen are just rude.

Your resource box at the end of the article is the part that is most important to you. Other website owners or E-zine publishers who download and reproduce your article are required to include your resource box. This box needs to contain your full name, your contact information and, most importantly, a link to your website. That link is the little thing that is going to help increase traffic for you.

Warning! Do NOT word-wrap this link! Type it out in full, http://www.whatever.com. All email programs that E-zine editors use to send out their newsletters and E-zines do not support word-wrapped links so you can defeat your own purpose by word-wrapping the link to your website.

Submitting Articles: You can find article banks and article repositories on the Internet by simple doing a search for them using your favorite search engine. When you have located them, you must submit your articles according to the guidelines that each site sets forth.

You will likely be told that there is software available that you can use to automatically submit your articles to banks and repositories…and there is, in fact, such software. The problem with the automated submission software is that most of the larger (and more effective) banks and repositories don’t accept automated submissions. So, while this software can in fact save you time by submitted to the smaller sites, it isn’t going to help you much with the bigger sites.

Yes, submitting articles is time consuming and tedious (not to mention boring) work but it is work that can provide your site with a lot of targeted traffic. Each person who reads an article that you have written will also be exposed to the link to your site. If the article is good and if it provides good information, these people will visit your site. They may buy what you are selling or they may opt-in to your mailing list… or maybe they will do both. By the way, there are services that will do article submissions for you. Of course this is a paid service.

Another solution which I use is Unique Article Wizard. UAW submits unique articles to hundreds of article publishers at the click of a mouse. Spend a couple hours writing your article, click Publish and watch the traffic grow to your site.
