Pulp Fiction: This is Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece work. The story weaves around four separate, yet intertwined events. There was an accidental killing, the crime bosses wife’s overdose, the boxer who didn’t throw the fight, and pair of small time crooks trying to rob a restaurant.

A Cry in The Dark: The amazing true tale of Lindy Chamberlain, an Australian female implicated of killing her infant, in spite of her claims that the youngster was taken by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). Author-director Schepisi informs his tale with nearly documentary like actuality, eloquently assaulting the format of trial by story that made Chamberlain and her spouse the most maligned couple in Australia. Streep and Neill are heartbreakingly excellent. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Sam Neill, Bruce Myles, Charles Tingwell, Notch Tate, and Lewis Fitzgerald. (121 minutes, 1988)

The Village: Set in the 19th century, people live in a seemingly wonderful little village, but there is a problem. There is a race of ‘creatures’ that live surrounding the village. No one inside the village dares to go outside the city. One person, Luscious Hunt, has a strong urge to see what is out there. Eventually the world outside the village is exposed, and chaos ensues.

Jack Be Nimble: Strange, smart little chiller in which the title personality is adopted into a family of bad people and he is neglected completely. So he sets out to find his long-lost sis, and then to seek revenge for his mistreatment. Cast includes Alexis Arquette, Sarah Smuts-Kennedy, Bruno Lawrence, Tony Barry, and Elizabeth Hawthorne. (93 minutes, 1993)

Eragon: Eragon is a poor young boy trying to help keep his family fed. When he finds a shiny blue stone he thinks it might bring food to the tables. The stone turns out to be an egg, a dragon egg. Eragon and this dragon were destined to be together. Now they will go on great adventures together.

Communion: Mental thriller with Walken well cast as author Whitley Strieber, who finds himself visited by odd beings. Does he need a psychiatrist or an exorcist? A tad long in the tooth and the dramatic scenes between Walken and spouse Crouse don’t really work. The movie still has some good moments. Cast includes Christopher Walken, Lindsay Crouse, Frances Sternhagen, Andreas Katsulas, Terri Hanauer, Joel Carlson, and Basil Hoffman. (107 minutes, 1977)

Let’s Make Up Lila Says: A Marseille adolescent on the verge of manhood considers becoming an author; however he’s broke, ghettoized, and pressured by his peers to be a loser till he meets a blonde bombshell who kindles his literary link, and then some. Faintly surreal myth of modern day French Arabian relationships stays lightweight and nymphet fixated till its unavoidable bittersweet ending. Cast includes Valtina Giocante, Mohammed Khouas, Karim Ben Haddou, Lotfi Chakri, and Edmonde Franchi. (90 minutes, 2005)
